As a studbook association, 'BWB Breeders vzw' wants to encourage members to include the established selection objectives in their breeding program and by involving members more in the selection effort.
Through the studbook operation, the association aims to: → Collect the lineage data of registered cattle → Initiate different bloodlines to obtain the widest possible base of purebred animals → Organize inspections of the registered cattle to evaluate the breeding technical traits and to eliminate any hereditary defects. → To register a number of breeding traits and performances, to calculate indices for them and to research to improve these traits.
The association wants to be a help for the members to be able to improve the breed together, they also want to achieve following goals: → Calculate indices for breeding values for economic efficiency (average daily growth) and fertility → Start different bloodlines in order to obtain the widest possible base of purebred animals. → The association will provide a module for the inbreeding calculation through the internet program so that members can calculate the inbreeding percentage before breeding in their breeding herds → When registering animals in the herd book, the association will ensure the inspection of the legs and hereditary defects of the muzzle → Systematic examination of hereditary defects for bulls from AI stations, for own breeding bulls on breeders' farms the association will recommend this.
